Grand Photos
Grand Photos is a Photo Club of approximately 400 members located in the active adult community of Sun City Grand in the city of Surprise, Arizona. We are a Charter Club within the Community Association and membership is open to all of its activity cardholders.
Grand Photos occupies the Saguaro building within the community’s Village Center. We have a large classroom, digital processing equipment, a library, a display area for members’ prints, and a sales area for prints and cards. We have various classes and meetings scheduled in the building. We also have an Open Lab period on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am to noon for members to work on various projects and to share their ideas and questions. Guest are also welcome at this time to view our facilities and projects and ask photo related questions.
When you take a look at all the activities in which our club is involved, it makes us truly unique within our community. We are all bound together with our appreciation of images of the world and of the people around us. We like to take pictures, share them, and view the works of others. From this common thread, our club has developed into an organization which provides the following benefits to our members:
Classes (on cameras, techniques, and image processing)
Special Interest Groups (groups of members periodically meeting on a common subject)
Mentoring (one-on-ones to help beginners)
Use of a Digital Darkroom with computers, programs,scanners, and printers
Use of studio photography equipment
A facility for formal and informal meetings
A library on photographic subjects
Photo competitions for all levels of experience
A speaker program
Travelogues (members sharing images of places they’ve been)
Travel opportunities to local areas of photographic interest
Social get-togethers
